Corner Brook Biomass Cogeneration Plant
Built in 2002, Corner Brook's biomass cogeneration plant is supplying approximately 15 MW of power to Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro under the terms of a 20-year contract.
The cogeneration plant uses papermill residue to produce electricity as the steam used in the papermaking process.
The mill is equipped with a state-of-the-art wet scrubber, which significantly reduces suspended particulate matter.
Representing an investment of $30 million, Corner Brook's biomass cogeneration plant is the only one of its kind in the province of Newfoundland-and-Labrador.
